I was a member of the ship's company and was likely aboard USS Oriskany as a 19 year old Radioman Seaman (RMSN) when this photo was taken. Bill and I didn’t know each other when he took this photo. We met for the first time, two years later, when we were both transferred to the U.S. Naval Communication Station at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. Bill and I are still friends today as I write this (1/21/2024), some 56 years after the photo was taken.
